On every modern facility there’s a bigger need nowadays to detect leaks of different fluids (water, hydrocarbons, dielectric liquids), either for the early identification of breaks in auxiliary pipes that may cause major breakdowns in critical systems or risk of contamination, or for the precise location of leaks in long-distance pipes where a small leak can cause significant damage.

As PermAlert’s distributors for Spain, we provide complete turnkey solutions, from initial design and installation to commissioning and integration of the leak detection system into the Building Management System (BMS). The systems we install are based on Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) technology, which is notable for its applicability to a wide variety of liquids (water, hydrocarbons, dielectrics) and its fast and accurate detection times.

TDR Technology

The system comprises a control panel, interconnecting cables, sensor cables and connectors. The control panel can be a touch screen with built-in maps.

The control panel establishes a TDR baseline (or map) during system startup, and continuously sends signals throughout the system. If a leak, break or short circuit is detected, an alarm is triggered because the panel has registered a change in the reflected signal compared to the baseline (or map) set at startup.

  • Long-distance routes can be deployed in different sections.
  • Minimal component maintenance.
  • Can be repaired on-site in case of cable breakage or malfunction.

Applications

  • Data centers: cooling water, emergency power fuel lines, glycol, PG25, PG30, Direct Liquid Coolong (DLC), Direct to chip, Immersion cooling, …
  • Industrial use: fuel refining and storage, chemical and process facilities, white rooms, museums, airports, …
  • Leak detection on pass-through pipes (office spaces, laboratories, critical installations, …)
  • Alarm and location of leaks on large or difficult to access pipes: underground or top-of-rack pipes, service rooms.
  • Tank farms or storage facilities, via perimetral deployment or under the containers
